Kailia Eco-Friendly, Sweatshop-Free Shoes Made in Italy
February 01 2009If you’re tired of wearing shoes made from tires, check out the gorgeous new Kailia collection of eco-friendly shoes. Designed and fabricated sweatshop-free in Italy, the collection utilizes water-based glues, a breathable lining made from hemp and organic cotton and recycled uppers.
The company recently phased out its inclusion of chrome-free, recycled leathers in an effort to create a completely vegan line. And although we adore their new cousin, a collection of DoNi ballerina flats that are as functional as they are flirty (check back here in March for more on that one), it’s the simple, gorgeous Bella pump with the slightly upturned toe that is the ultimate eco-sleuth shoe. In soft dove gray, espresso or claret red microfiber suede, these shoes are just sexy enough to dub ecostilettos.
And mean it.
