If you’re anything like us, the ever-evolving jean plays a major role in your everyday wardrobe. Until a few years ago, the only way to ecofy your denim was to grab a pair of your dad’s ratty old Levi’s, throw on a flannel and hit the town with your Chris Cornell wanna-be boyfriend. (Okay, maybe he wasn’t so sustainable.)

And while vintage and recycled denim is still downright righteous—we’re especially loving the one-of-a-kind reworked vintage denim pieces from Project Blues—today there are a plethora of planet-happy options to choose from when you’re looking to green up your baby blues.

These chic, sexy and sustainable denim lines are definitely not cut like your dad’s jeans.  They flatter and firm in all the right places, just like good denim should.  But instead of being made from conventional cotton—which requires two-thirds of a pound of pesticides to grow enough for one pair—they’re made from sustainable fabrics and dyes.

Celebrity and fashionista favorite J Brand launched its Green Label with a wide variety of styles that range from the long-and-lean Pencil Leg to an Ali-MacGraw-worthy bell-bottom called Love Story—so sweet in pale blue Haight, pictured below.

If it’s color you want, AG is your go-to denim. Though their cotton is not yet organic (they’re working on that), the dyes are totally chemical free and they’re utilizing low-water, chem-free ozone technology to finish the jeans. And they come in a rainbow of bold hues from crimson to lavender—so hot!

Of course, we can’t talk about denim without mentioning Levi’s, which was one of the first big-box brands out of the gate with its organic cotton Eco line, which it launched in 2006.  With a bona fide eco-friendly brand staple under its belt, Levi’s is working to update classics like the Women’s Skinny in organic cotton. The Capital E Line even uses recycled fasteners and soy inks—green jeans, indeed.

This is so the tip of the iceberg.  Who knows, your favorite jeans might just be the next to go green.  In the meantime, pick up a pair of these eco-friendly beauties, and show off your assets while showing love for Mama Earth.
