We’re not big skincare brand devotees, preferring instead a buffet-style approach to beauty. But the unified devotion among green beauty experts to Dr. Alkaitis Holistic Organic Skin Food may make us rethink the concept of diversification. Whether they’re estheticians, spa owners or experts with their own product line, these girls in the know go all starry-eyed over Dr. A’s line of cleansers, cremes, toners and masks.

Maybe it’s that the formulations are biologically active—after all, Alkaitis is a research scientist with a PhD in chemistry who has worked with four Nobel Laureates. Maybe it’s that only living ingredients are used (that means no chemicals, synthetics, trans-fats or plant-derived products) and that the products are made no longer than two weeks before they’re shipped for sale. Maybe it’s because the formulations are based in pure organic aloe vera, rather plain ol’ H2O, combined with certified organic alcohol that’s so pure you could drink it.

But be forewarned: Once you get hooked on Dr. A, make sure you secure your source beforehand. The products can be very hard to find, but we found ours at a sweet little totally eco-friendly spa in Santa Monica, CA called Petite Spa.
