Walk with Emily Deschanel

Emily Deschanel stands up for—and with—animals at Farm Sanctuary’s 2008 Gala.
In our (online) book, having a hit show doesn’t make someone a star; what gives them that special shine is what they do off camera. “Bones” lead Emily Deschanel—who celebrated the birth of her first child last month (congrats, Emily!)—is one of our favorite examples of someone putting fame to work for good.
But it’s likely that animals are her biggest fan, now that Emily is the national spokesperson for Farm Sanctuary’s Walk for Farm Animals. She shows how each of us can take action for what we believe in, and it only takes one small step—or maybe a few more.
Now through November 6th, you can attend one of more than 40 events happening across the country, with the goal of raising $1 million and stopping factory farming. Follow Emily’s lead, lace up your favorite cruelty-free walking shoes and take a compassionate stroll in support of keeping animals out of factory farms.
And if you’re feeling lazy, you can participate in the virtual Sleep In for Farm Animals Virtual Walk instead. Love that!
Who’s giving us the insider’s guide to a cruelty-free life? Only the esteemed Whitney Lauritsen, the writer, photographer, filmmaker and creator of the online go-to EcoVeganGal.com. This month, Whitney gets up close-and-personal with stellar stilettos, Emily Deschanel, sexy body butter and antioxidant-rich grass (yes, really). Think you know what it means to be a veganista? Trust us, you’ll be surprised.
