Afternoons are a drag. Lunch is long gone and dinner well, you have to make that, and we don’t know about you but coffee any time after two makes us wired right waaay past bedtime. What’s an EcoStilettoista to do? Grab a chic little tin of sweetriot dark cacao nibs dunked in espresso. Founded by Sarah Endline, who developed our new favorite mantra (“Life is a riot. Sweet.”), the company is all fair trade all the time, sourcing cacao in Latin America, rather than Europe, where the sweet stuff is typically exported, creating the myth of “Swiss chocolate.”

sweetriot works with TransFair (the fair trade certifying body), are part of the new EquiTrade movement (and get ready, it’s a mind-blower) and at home in New York, NY, their five-person company seems pretty stoked to be pushing the beans. But the best thing about these sweet little niblets (Yes, we do watch “Hannah Montana.” With children present.) is how they taste: Rich and intense chocolate flavor delivered in tiny little pieces that can be savored over the course of an afternoon, or in five minutes, depending on your stress level. Oh, and how they make you feel: awake. And color us superficial, but anything that delivers this level of satisfaction and only 140 calories per tin is worth writing home about. Or at least writing to you.
