I’m Tired: Eco-Friendly Charity Bracelets Made From Recycled Tires

Are you tired of global warming? Does world hunger get you down? How about animal cruelty or cancer or AIDS? Wear your heart on your sleeve with a $10 “I’m Tired Of” eco-friendly bracelet made from recycled tires and metals that donates $5 to the charity or charities associated with its cause. The idea is one that’s near and dear to us EcoStilettoistas: When small purchases add up they can made a big difference in the world. These bracelets support one of 10 causes, from world hunger to global warming to cancer or AIDS. They represent issues that everyone wants to solve—and causes that are worthy of our support.
The “I’m Tired Of” bracelets are the result of a collaboration between brother-and-sister team Dan and Carrie Hoffman. As children, the two lost their father to heart disease; as adults, their stepfather died of cancer and their mother of Alzheimer’s. “At some point, disease touches everyone,” Dan Hoffman said. “Whether it’s you or someone you love. Then there are global issues that make us want to advocate change.”
The first 10 causes the bracelets benefit are AIDS, autism, animal cruelty, Alzheimer’s, cancer, child abuse, diabetes, global warming, heart disease and world hunger. More are sure to come. Because, unfortunately, there are a lot of things to be tired of.
We were going to give away a bunch of bracelets. In fact, the Hoffmans were all set to give us 10. But it seemed antithetical to us (and them) to blather on about the benefits of supporting these causes and then turn around and take a freebie that donates nothing. So instead, we encourage you to buy a bunch. Stuff ‘em in your stockings—that way, you’ll be giving twice.
