Crushing On Cri de Coeur Vegan Shoes & Boots
Really, why waste this space with words when the shoes we’re showcasing this month are so ridiculously gorgeous? Let’s cut to the chase: Cri de Coeur, which we’ve been obsessed with pretty much since EcoStiletto started, uses the highest-quality vegan and eco materials—suedes from recycled plastics, low-VOC and biodegradable polyeurethane, organic cotton, hemp and reclaimed wood—to create boots and shoes that are as animal- and earth-friendly as they are fabulous.
Translated from the French, the name means “cry from the heart,” and designers Gina Ferraraccio and Julie Dicterow take that literally. By creating stand-out vegan shoes and accessories, they plan to shift consumer attitudes in terms of how people define style. Rather than seeing leather as worth more and non-leather as worth less, they want shoppers to start taking into account the impact of deforestation, global warming and resource depletion—directly related to animal consumption, both for food and fashion—and realize that vegan products should be valued as equal to—or more than—leather.
Especially when they’re this kick-ass.
