Blade Eco-Friendly Emissions Filtration Device

Can’t afford a Tesla? For those of us looking for a more eco-friendly ride, check out Blade, which attaches to your tail pipe. According to Sabertec, which makes it, the device acts as a filter, capturing particulate matter as well as other solid inorganic emissions that would otherwise end up in your lungs. It improves the efficiency of your catalytic converter to lower emissions. And it increases the volumetric efficiency of the engine, helping your engine to burn more efficiently so that it increases fuel economy and reduces CO2.
According to Sabertec, when the gadget attaches to the tailpipe of a car, SUV, truck or hybrid it can reduce vehicle air pollution up to 57 percent and greenhouse gases up to 34 percent while increasing fuel economy up to five miles per gallon in lab testing: “If every car and light truck in American had a Blade, drivers would save over $42 billion per year, and the nation’s total greenhouse gas reduction would be equivalent to removing roughly 50 million cars from the road.”
Sound unbelievable? We thought so, too, until we learned that Blade has been proven by ATDS, the “gold standard” in testing vehicles from leading manufacturers like GM, as well as accepted by the EPA and licensed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). And although Rachel got slammed for writing about Blade on Treehugger, Sabertec promises to release data before the end of the year that further backs up their claims. Meanwhile, after she installed it on her car, she did notice a difference in gas mileage. And not that she’s inhaling from the tail pipe or anything, but she says it does smell a little cleaner when she starts up in the morning.
Tesla? $98,000. Blade? $199. Cutting down on pollution and increasing your gas mileage for reals? Priceless.
Did Rachel get Bladed? Or is the device she just put on her car really the best thing for automotive transportation since the hybrid? You decide.
