11.09 ES Presents Anna Getty’s “Green Christmas”
Think this is the season for giving? It’s actually the season for wasting, according to heiress, environmental advocate, writer, television personality, chef, mother, and organic living expert Anna Getty, who celebrated the launch of new book, “I’m Dreaming of a Green Christmas: Gifts, Decorations and Recipes That Use Less and Mean More,” at an EcoStiletto Presents party at Environment Furniture in Los Angeles on November 10th.
When writing the book (printed by Chronicle Books on 100% post-consumer recycled paper, natch), Anna discovered that between Thanksgiving and January 1st, the waste produced by the average American increases by thirty percent.
What’s the solution? Simple, money-saving, heirloom-worthy traditions such as those showcased at the event, which inspired guests like Amy Smart, Balthazar Getty, Donovan Leitch, Josie Maran, Kirsty Hume, Sarah Jane Morris, Rachel Avalon (the recent Project Green Search winner) and EcoStiletto’s own Rachel Lincoln Sarnoff (pictured with Anna, above) to go greener this holiday season.
Party-goers were treated to hair and makeup finishing touches sponsored by Aveda and provided by Planet Salon, food presented by Border Grill, Anna’s signature cookies by Brown Sugar LA, eco-friendly cocktails courtesy of VeeV Acai Spirits and O.N.E. Natural Experience juices, biodynamic wine by Frey Vineyards and organic beer by Eel River Brewing Company, living decor by The Juicy Leaf, chemical-free sparkles by Greener Cleaner Los Angeles, a low-impact photo/video booth on site from Keshot and Visionary Boutique, and all-eco, all-the-time party planning by the incomparable Bash Eco Events.
