2011 Best of Eco-Fashion: Sprout Watches

Sprout Biodegradable Watch ($60)

Maybe it’s the bird—so EcoStiletto! Maybe it’s the big chunky bracelet—so classic! Or maybe it’s the fact that Sprout Watches are made from a biodegradable corn resin that lasts a lifetime on your wrist—but not on the planet.
And in case you were worried about the wrist part, we were fascinated to learn that the shelf life of corn resin is similar to synthetic plastics—it won’t break down during regular wear and tear (although you probably wouldn’t want to wear it in the shower), although it will biodegrade to carbon dioxide and water within a year.
But we digress. We can’t stop staring at these gorgeous, effortlessly sustainable watches.
Do you have the time?
Swag alert! During the week of 1.15.12, one lucky newsletter subscriber will take home the $60 Sprout Biodegradable Watch pictured above. Good luck!
What makes something our “best of” eco-fashion for the year? Dedication to sustainability and a ridiculous sense of style, as evidenced by Lara Miller, Melissa Joy Manning, Beyond Skin and Sprout. If we could fill our closets full of this eco-awesomeness, we’d be happy little elves this season.
