Yoga may be the key to enlightenment, but for many years the manufacturers of yoga gear haven’t been too concerned with its impact on the Earth. But now, green yoga doesn’t stop at PVC-free mats. With new eco-friendly gear that addresses all aspects of your practice, this year might be the one that tips the sustainability scales.

Adidas’ Global Ambassador Rainbeau Mars (pictured on our home page) just launched a new line of totally wearable yoga clothes from sustainable, breathable materials. Think flattering shelf-bra tanks and perfect-fit pants with beautiful detailing that only a true yogini would insist on. Ballerina shoes are optional.

If you’re a front-row girl, try tree pose in the organic cotton tank-and-short-shorts combo from LIV GRN, which donates 10% to Global Green, then cover up with one of Global Ghetto’s super-soft organic bamboo eco-thermals—perfect for a post-yoga chai date.

Yoga bags never seem to have room for anything but the mat, but not these double-barrelled Yogoco Yoga Bags, which are made from 50% pre-consumer t-shirt scraps. End-to-end ventilation keeps everything well aired. Bonus when you’re into Bikram.

If you’re traveling or just sick of lugging around that heavy roll, check out the amazingly innovative Yoga Paws. Basically slip-free gloves and half-socks made from yoga-mat material that let you adhere to the floor like a gecko, Yoga Paws are free of chlorides, latex and PVC.

Just getting into yoga or have a friend who’s contemplating a class? Get the whole kit and caboodle with a Natural Fitness Yoga Kit (pictured below), which comes with a natural rubber mat, bamboo block and hemp strap and, at $62, is a damn good buy.

And if you need a drishdi during down dog, focus in on a custom-made Affirmation Ring from Payson Jewelry which can include your own personal mantra and is made primarily from recycled metals.

P.S.: To download yoga instruction on the go, check out YogiChocolate.com, an eco- and wallet-friendly alternative to driving to—and paying for—class. We love their tagline: Download yoga.  Uplift heart.

Now go do a handstand or something!
