Fall’s About Face from Lina Hanson: Twiggy Lashes

There’s nothing to fear about these fab spider lashes. Photo: Lanvin.
If there’s one truly unforgettable face of swinging-60s-London fashion, it’s Twiggy’s. The cropped hair, the perfect pout…and yes, the sad-but-sexy eyes.
What really gave Twiggy’s eyes their iconic edge were those ultra-exaggerated spider lashes—which were actually drawn on.
That look is probably a little extreme for the average ecoista. For everyday Twiggy-style sultriness, here’s a toned-down version: Start by curling your lashes.
Next, apply chemical-free black mascara—we totally adore Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara, which has no parabens, petrochemicals or synthetic fragrance or dyes, and stays put with oil-absorbing clay.
The trick is to go thick at the base of your lashes, and gently tap mascara into sections of your upper and lower lashes, letting the first coat dry, then a applying a second—or even a third and fourth. How thick you go is up to you. This technique creates that awesome, exaggerated, spidery effect that’s swinging-60s chic—and super scorching haut this season.

Gorgeous!
