Talk about a heroine. Supermodel Christy Turlington-Burns was a presenter at last week’s “CNN Heroes” awards, where she introduced the organization’s honoree for the night, Robin Lim, a midwife who organized a free women’s clinic in Bali, according to the Los Angeles Times.
But it’s Christy who got our vote: She launched her Every Mother Counts foundation earlier this year, which focuses on maternal health care.
According to the accompanying “No Woman No Cry” film—the trailer for which you can watch below—one woman dies every minute from a pregnancy-related complication, most of which are preventable.
It’s a shocking statistic, and we’re so impressed with this EcoCelebrity’s continued dedication to the matters that count.
