One for them, two for you: We found healthy and beauty buys perfect for stocking stuffing—or stocking up! Now through New Year’s, the Eco-Beauty & Health Gift Guide showcases our Best of 2010 favorites at 25% off—or more—in EcoStiletto SHOP. Part Three of Nine.

For the true espresso aficionado, the idea of drinking green tea in the place of coffee is a bit like eating raw oats when you want ice cream. Yes, we know green tea is a proven antioxidant and anti-bacterial with a reputation for fighting cancer and combating allergies. Yes, we know that drinking coffee makes your heart race and your mouth smell foul. But for the coffee junkie, the smell of a steaming double cappuccino incites a mouth-watering sort of “have to have” experience.

Green tea? Not so much.

veganThat is, until we discovered Matcha Matcha. Forget about everything you think you know: This stuff is to green tea as espresso is to a cuppa joe from McDonald’s. (Yes, we took the GRE.)

First of all, the teas are powdered, so you can mix them with hot or cold water. They’re made with mint and—strangely, deliciously—rice. And the Japanese tea leaves are shade-grown, handpicked and then micro ground so you’re drinking the whole leaf and thus getting five-to-eight times more antioxidants than steeped green tea. Plus, they’re absolutely addictively yummy.

We can just hear you coffeenated people scoff. How can a mere leaf compete with the lift we get from the bean? It’s just tea, right?

Yes, it’s just tea, but the caffeine factor is equal to that of a cup of coffee. And, as opposed to coffee, the jolt factor is serious, but the letdown is soft and gentle. No more late-afternoon crankies. Get Matcha Matcha in individualized serving size packets so it’s easy to make at work or while traveling. You can sleep after a second cup—but might want to stop at three.

Now we’re not saying we’ll never have another sweet-smelling mug of vanilla soy latte. But since we switched to Matcha, we’ve been more energized—yet, strangely, calmer—than we’ve been in years.

And our mouths smell delightful, thank you very much.

Now through 12.31.10, get 25% off on all Matcha Matcha products (except dispenser) on EcoStiletto SHOP with “ecoholiday” at checkout. Want more? Get schooled on the multitasking beauty essential that we featured last week, the amazing organic perfume that we featured the week before, and then check back next week for more of our gift guide raves and faves!
