Every morning it’s the same old drill: Suds, rinse, repeat. Sudse, rinse, condition. Yes, it’s a beautiful thing that many of us are now choosing shampoos that eschew sulfuric-acid derived sudsing agents like sodium laureth or sodium lauryl sulfate, which are skin irritants and duly added under “S” in the Big List of Things That Suck. And that we’re finding in favor of naturally derived sudsors that don’t mess with our skin and the ecosystem.

But don’t you feel like there’s something missing? Can’t haircare do more?

Apparently, it can as Save Your World personal care products has now partnered with Conservation International to preserve the Amazonian rainforest. So that bottle of amazing, chamomile-infused, essential-oil laden, organic aloe vera Save Your Hair Shampoo doesn’t just make your ‘do look fabulous, it also helps preserve one of the world’s most valuable—and threatened—natural resources.

Here’s how it works: Conservation International leased 200,000 acres of rainforest, paying the Guyanan government the equivalent to what it would have received had the area been logged. Then Save Your World stepped in, pledging to help pay annual royalties and fees required to maintain the agreement. Here’s where you come in: From each bottle of synthetic-free body lotion, shower gel, soap, body wash, lip balm and, yes, shampoo and conditioner that you buy, SYW donates between $.15 and $2.50. And with essential oil infused scents like Oasis Fruit, Regal Blossom and Rainforest, plus organic yerba mate and aloe vera, these products help you look, feel and smell amazing—regardless of the good work they do.

Because really, despite of our good intentions, isn’t that the point?
