2008 Archives: Priti Organic Spa Soy Polish Remover

Oh we’ve talked a lot about nail polish, as this seems to be the single-most effective way to get a not-so-green girl to wake up and smell the formaldehyde.
It’s one thing to tell someone that her skin absorbs 60 percent of what she puts on it, parabens in most conventional beauty products have been linked to cancer and hormonal disruption, yada yada yada. It’s quite another to ask her if her nails are yellow when she takes off her nail polish and make that link between yellow nails and polishes full of formaldehyde, among other nasty chemicals linked to birth defects, allergies, and much, much more. (Say what, sister?)
So by now we hope you’re all racing out to stock up on fabulous Big Three-free polishes (formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate) in any number of absolutely au courant colors (because just because you don’t like toxic chemicals on your nails doesn’t mean you don’t have a soft spot for hot pink). But what do you do to take the stuff off? I mean, it lasts just as long as conventional polish, right? And it’s not like you’re buying it in the Sally Hansen aisle. So there’s a bit of a conundrum when you have to soak up your cotton ball in a chemical bath in order to get it off.
Enter Priti Soy Polish Remover.
Now Priti is pretty (ha!) well known, having been one of the first to develop the line of non-toxic Priti Princess nail polishes from their New York-based organic nail spa. And this polish remover sticks to their philosophy of taking nail care as green as it can go: With no petroleum ingredients, it’s 100% biodegradable, soy- and corn-based, non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. But here’s the best part: It works. Eureka!
