2008 Archives: Perfect Organics: Green, Sustainable Lip and Cheek Shimmer
Tousled sun-streaked and salt-drenched hair. The perfect tan. Minus five pounds of water weight thanks to a raw food diet. For some, the idea of being stranded on a desert island is a nightmare worthy of Robert Louis Stevenson; for us, it’s a fashion fantasy fueled by watching the entire first season of LOST on DVD in what felt like 48 hours. And in a LOST-worthy desert island fantasy where no body parts go missing and the only one to die painfully from the plane crash is the meanie FBI agent, there is nothing, NOTHING more important than the multi-purpose Vegan Lip and Cheek Shimmer from Perfect Organics. (We’re more Shannon than Kate, okay?)
Seriously though, in our real-life version of desert island stranding (read: bad party; endless press event) this multipurpose little wonderina is what we stash in the clutch. Yes, the line is organic, vegan, packaged with environmental responsibility in mind, utilizing sustainably sourced ingredients (no petroleum or parabens, natch). Yes, Perfect Organics works at the local, national and international level to promote environmental responsibility—most notably in collaboration with Philippe Cousteau, Executive Director of EarthEcho International. Yes, their idea that “we all live upstream from each other” is the best in-a-nutshell rationale for personal and corporate responsibility we’ve heard all day.
But here’s our real reason loving the Shimmer: Whip this little baby out during your “be right back” bathroom break from the hullabaloo and add a little color, a little sparkle, a little oh-la-la. The color seems to morph into whatever you need, wherever you need it—shimmery on the lips, subtle glow on the cheeks. Like you just spend a few months on a deserted island.
