2008 Archives: Chae Organics Safe 4U Sunscreen

The sun’ll come out…today, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow… May is the month when we start slathering on the sunscreen in a ridiculous attempt to undo the skin damage we did when we were too young to know any better. Don’t be all “who me?” and wide-eyed, you did it too: Sailing all day long without a hat until you got blisters on your cheekbones or lying out on aluminum foil basted in baby oil. All for the illusive San Tropez tan.
That model probably looks like a Shar-Pei right about now.
Yet although most of us reach for the sunscreen before the coffee these days, strangely, studies are showing that skin cancer rates are actually going up at the same time that our SPF usage is increasing. Coincidink? We think not. Maybe we should take a closer look at the benzophenone (a registered pesticide), avobenzone (a free radical generator that permeates the epidermis) and methoxycinnamate (carcinogenic), and/or PABA (linked to cellular DNA damage) that are in many chemical sunscreens. Just a thought, Mr. FDA.
But until our government wakes up and smells a lawsuit, they’ll probably keep letting sunscreen manufacturers pack all kinds of icky toxic chemicals into those pretty little bottles. That’s why we’re thrilled when we find a great chem-free alternative like Chaé Organics safe4u™ line of SPF 15 sunscreens, which utilize titanium dioxide to create a physical barrier to the sun. Created by Linda Chaé, a cancer survivor whose products are beloved by women recovering from breast cancer and chemotherapy because of their complete and utter absence of chemicals, the line also includes potent Certified Organic Calendula Co2, Certified Organic Sea Buckthorn Berry and Vitamin C and D.
Because we all need a damn good sunscreen. Come what may.
