2008 Archives: Brittanie’s Thyme: Organic, Eco-Friendly Health and Body Care

Grandma really does know best. After growing up in an organic home and extending the practice to her work as a beauty consultant, Nancy Schaap applied her knowledge of heirloom recipes to the care of her granddaughter Brittanie, who was born with serious medical issues. After realizing that Brittanie’s needs could be met through the organic remedies that Nancy created at home, she decided to launch Brittanie’s Thyme in 2004, both to offer these remedies to the general public, and also to allow Brittanie’s mother to work from home while providing the intensive care that her daughter needed.
If you sense a lack of irony in this write up, that’s because we have none. Brittanie’s Thyme takes their commitment to natural and organic products so seriously, they contracted with an organic farm near their Illinois headquarters to grow the majority of their herbs. The formulations-fully disclosed on their website-are the type of simple and effective recipes your grandmother probably used. And they’re not artificially inflating prices to match the beauty shelves at Whole Paycheck-a four-ounce jar of Organic Almond Facial Scrub is just $6.50, the antioxidant French Green Clay mask is $5, and the Lavender Sea Salt Scrub is $5.50.
We can’t wait to try the Organic Insect Repellent (and the lavender/tea tree combo Organic Bug Bite Relief for the days when we forget to spray) and the Sweet Dream Pillow filled with organic lavender, which you put inside your pillowcase at night.
Brittanie? She’s doing great, thanks very much. And thanks to her and her amazing family for Brittanie’s Thyme.
