2008 Archives: Barielle Intensive Nail Renewal Oil

We don’t know how these women with perfect nails do it. With all the dish washing and face washing and hand washing and clothes washing and general immersion in suds and water for the better part of our days, our nails and cuticles are cracked to the point that we put our hands in our pockets at parties. Yet we see women with the same kinds of challenges and their nails are perfect ovals, unmarred by peeling cuticles or—egads!—a hangnail. Maybe they get weekly (DBP-free, we hope) manicures. We’ve thought about that, but nixed the idea since that scant four hours a month can be better spent elsewhere, like sleeping.
Or maybe, just maybe, they found out about Barielle Intensive Nail Renewal Oil like we just did.
Okay here’s the thing: We love shea butter and body butter and soupy creams and lotions as much as the next girl, they feel awesome and slippery when you (or, preferably, someone else) rub them on. But they make your hands all goopy and you have to wait out the soak time—or, if you’re like us, rub the stuff off onto your jeans because you can’t spend 15 seconds without typing—before you can actually use your hands again.
In contrast, this blend of sesame, safflower, sunflower and coconut oil, aided and abetted with keratin, vitamin E and calcium, comes in a nail polish bottle with a wee little brush. You just swipe it over your nails and cuticles and presto! Because you’re only putting it on the tops of your nails you can do whatever else you want, like type, eat, grab the phone, corral your toddler, without getting moisturizing gunk all over the place. Plus, apply a few times a day and before bedtime and we swear you’ll have perfect nails in like 48 hours. No joke.
