2007 Archives: Sworn Virgins Green Bamboo Clothing

Compostable fashion? That’s the word on Sworn Virgins slinky new line of tops, tanks, dresses and leggings. They’re made of pure bamboo fibers and are completely biodegradable, but why you’d want to toss them is beyond us. Yes you’ve already heard how we swoon for bamboo, which is naturally anti-bacterial, sweatproof and silky-soft, and easy on the earth to produce sans pesticides. But we reserve a special take-it-to-the-fainting-couch number for Sworn Virgins, which drapes so good with strategically placed ruching, plunging necklines, keyhole cutouts and shirred bodices. Designer Roshane Aghevli was called to action by the lack of color in eco-fashion, which tends towards earth tones that are oh-so-subtle but perhaps not so exciting. Realizing that a girl can’t live in monochrome alone, Sworn Virgins offers a palette of rich reds, luscious teals, vibrant yellows and more that would put your flower garden to shame, should you decide to add a piece to your pile. As if.
