2007 Archives: Sameunderneath Eco-Conscious Work Clothes

There are a lot of folks out there making green clothing from sustainable materials like bamboo and organic cotton that look fabulous on the dance floor or if you work at one of those progressive kinds of companies where (organic) denim isn’t just for Fridays. Lucky you.
For many of us, works means conforming to the unspoken dress code of office-friendly attire: jackets, collared shirts, knee-length skirts or pants. Not so easy to pull off in bamboo. Enter Sameunderneath, which makes gorgeous work (and club) friendly clothes out of organic cotton, organic bamboo and tencel, a sustainable fabric made from wood pulp.
We can’t promise you suits, but separates like the Herringbone Pant paired with the Drop Waist Jacket will get you through a Powerpoint presentation in eco-friendly style and have the benefit of bamboo’s naturally moisture-wicking, thermal regulating qualities, an added bonus when you’re performing under pressure. (And wearing Tom’s of Maine.)
There’s also a lovely LBD in bamboo, which also comes in Cocoa and an amazing lavender they call Thistle. But it’s the little pumpkin jacket with brown piping that we’d really love to rock to a Board meeting. If we had a Board.
