The EPA estimates that over two billion disposable razors will hit our landfills this year alone—that’s a big pile o’ plastic. That’s why we love Recycline’s new Preserve razor. Not only is it made from 100 percent recycled plastic (from Stonyfield farm’s empty yogurt containers), but pop off the blade and you can recycle the handle.

In fact, we love pretty much everything from Recyline’s Preserve brand: recycled plastic toothbrushes, disposable plates, forks, knives, spoons, cups and tongue cleaners (okay, maybe not the tongue cleaner, that still kind of grosses us out) that are cute and colorful and, well, recycled.

The company estimates that its innovative recycling practices have kept over 10 million pounds of waste out of landfills, and they’re seriously committed—they even provides customers who don’t live within range of a recycling center a free postage-paid envelope so you can mail your old toothbrush back to the company and they’ll recycle it for you. And they donate 10 percent of profits to environmental causes.

But back to the razor. According to press materials, Recycline recruited a team of Stanford and MIT grads to design it. We don’t know about that, but we do know that our team has been testing it and it stands up to a week’s worth of shaving without going dull. Now that’s progress.
