Who cares if they’re organic? These bathing suits are drop-dead gorgeous. Well, we DO care actually, and designer Kelly Marie Barry does too—she proves it by only using organic cotton in her superlicious Kelly B Couture line. It seems like a no-brainer: conventional cotton production is responsible for a full 25% of the world’s insecticides and 10% of its pesticides, and organic cotton that’s grown, processed and produced without pesticides and other toxins is just as soft, wearable and durable as its chemical-laden cousin. If just a fraction of our favorite fashion designers turned to organic cotton, we’d see a huge reduction in the amount of crap pumped into the earth. But we digress. Fact is, Kelly B clothing is hot no matter what it’s made of. And for spring’s-around-the-corner essentials like shorts (check out the ruffle short-short and the Bermudas with the gold eyelets studding the pockets), tanks (the racer back tank with the shoulder snaps is oh-so-sexy) and can we talk about the suits? Ruffles, smocking—there’s even a one-piece that goes beachside to belly-up-to-the bar (providing you’re in the Cote D’Azur). Oh la la!
