For the last few years, we regrettably blew off bamboo clothing—despite the fact that we loved bamboo as a renewable and sustainable source for fabric (it’s the world’s fastest growing plant and can be harvested in three years), most of the stuff we saw seemed to be kind of dowdy and old-school. But the bamboo coming up these days is a whole new groove thang—those draped and off-the-shoulder-Mia-Sara-in-Ferris-Bueller looks are oh so sultry in silky bamboo. Plus, bamboo fabrics are thermal regulating and wick away moisture from the skin, and they contain a substance that prevents bacteria from cultivating. This means wearing bamboo is a sweat and odor-free experience, which says one thing to us: club time! In order to slide past that velvet rope with a minimal amount of flirting with the stanky bouncer, check out the ecoKashmere line from the green fashion visionaries at Jonano, who are busy little bees cultivating a cottage industry in Brazil which supports native women (love that) with organic cotton crops that grow in color (LOVE THAT!). Stay tuned for more from Jonano, but meanwhile back in the land of ecoKashmere bamboo, we especially lust after the Asymmetrical Hem Bandeau Dress—you can wrap as a bandeau, cross your heart or straight up as a halter. In black, brown or coral, he’ll lust after it too. And we don’t mean the bouncer.
