2007 Archives: Charmone Sustainable, Eco-Friendly Vegan Shoes

Most of us who are otherwise environmentally conscious tend to draw the line at eliminating leather from our wardrobes. Although we know that leather tanning is one of the most environmentally-toxic manufacturing processes in the world, there’s something about sticking your foot into a rigid, plastic-smelling PVC shoe that’s just not quite right. Enter Charmone. Using an entirely eco-friendly manufacturing process that utilizes recycled last boards and PU coated microfibers, Charmone vegan footsies are downright traffic-stopping. Made in Italy where they know from shoes (and don’t rely on sweatshops), Charmone’s Spring line features rich jewel tones with accents like raw-edged silk flowers and contrasting interior patterns. We flipped for Ginseng, an open-toed polkadot platform, and for those flat-addicts among us there’s the subtle Julia with the ribbon twist above the toes. Plus, each purchase donates five percent to Women for Women International. Move over Cinderella.
